We put off redoing the kitchen for two years because we couldn't picture it. VZO measured everything, came back about a week later with a 3D layout, and it was exactly the thing we couldn't describe ourselves. Demo and install took two days and they hauled the old cabinets off with them.

Two Finishes in One Run, Planned Together
Two-tone means two finishes in the same room, usually a darker color on the base cabinets with a lighter one above, or an island that differs from the perimeter. VZO Cabinetry installs two-tone stock and semi-custom cabinetry across North Carolina, with both finishes shown in a 3D rendering before ordering.

Dark Below, Light Above: The most common split. Darker bases hide daily wear at hand height, and lighter uppers keep the room from feeling closed in.
Soft-Close Doors and Drawers: Standard across both finishes, since the hardware does not change with the color.
One Door Style, Two Colors: Most two-tone runs keep one door profile top and bottom and let the finish do the separating, so it reads as one set.

Where the color changes matters as much as which colors you pick. A split that lands mid-wall or cuts an island in half reads as a mistake, so we work that line out on the rendering and adjust it before anything is ordered.

Where should the color change on two-tone cabinets?
Upper and lower is the usual line, with the darker finish on the base cabinets. An island in a second finish is the other common version. We lay the split out in the rendering first, since a line that lands mid-wall reads as a mistake.
Do both finishes have to be the same door style?
Not required, but most two-tone runs keep one profile top and bottom and let the finish do the separating. Changing both the door and the color at the same line tends to make the room read as two jobs instead of one.
How do I pick two finishes that work together?
They have to work with your counters, floor, and backsplash, not only with each other. We put both finishes into the 3D rendering so you see them against the actual room before anything is ordered.
